Our team is absolutely thrilled with the final product, and we’re sure you will be too. From this point on, The Rockwell Model T is made available on our website.

Haven’t received your Rockwell Model T?

If you have not yet received a tracking number from us, it’s because we are still awaiting your response to our address confirmation email. If you are unable to find the address confirmation email, please email us at [email protected] with your updated email and shipping address so we can queue up your order for delivery.

If you have confirmed your shipping address with us via email, but haven’t received tracking, you can expect a tracking number by the end of this week. If for whatever reason you still haven't received tracking, please email us at [email protected] so that we can re-send the tracking link for your order.

April Update - Remaining Pledge Rewards

Dear Backers,

We have more positive news for you all this week as we continue to finish up fulfillment of the Kickstarter Rockwell Model T campaign.

We’re excited to announce that we have now successfully fulfilled all White Chrome Model T razors to backers from all around the world! We’re left with just a few hundred Gunmetal and Brushed Chrome pledges, which we will fulfill as promptly as possible for backers over the next few weeks.

We anticipate that all final address confirmations for outstanding pledge rewards will be sent out before the end of this month as we continue to assemble and QC more Rockwell Model T razors and ship them out in batches.

Final address confirmations

If you have not yet received your final address confirmation, rest assured that we have not missed your pledge! You can expect to receive your final address confirmation email on the week of April 22nd. It’s during the week of April 22nd that we’ll be sending the last round of Gunmetal and Brushed Chrome Model T razors down to our fulfillment center and preparing them for final delivery. 

This means that if you have not yet received your Model T, it will be shipping out in just a few short weeks! If all goes according to plan, the first week of May will mark the end of fulfillment of the Kickstarter campaign for backers of all three finishes.

Customs / Duties / VAT

As some of you may have noticed, a handful of our EU backers were met with an unexpected surprise last week when they were asked to pay additional taxes and duties by their postal service for final delivery. 

In an effort to pre-pay all customs fees, our fulfilment center provided us with a new Delivered Duties Paid program offered by DHL, through which we provide the customer details and tracking numbers for all orders in which the duties were to be billed to our company.

Unfortunately, due to reasons unbeknownst to us, some packages were still dinged with additional fees, despite our best efforts to avoid this.We are waiting to hear back from our fulfilment partners regarding what can be done to prevent this in the future.

We are of course reimbursing all backers with a full refund for any duties you may be charged at the point of delivery. Simply email us at [email protected] with your customs receipt along with your Paypal information and we’ll promptly refund you in your country’s local currency.

Thanks again to all those that have continued to support the project! We extremely pleased with the feedback we've been receiving from backers and cannot wait to get the Model T into the hands of those remaining that are patiently waiting.

March Update - Majority of Rewards Shipped!

Hi Backers,

Hope everyone is having a great March. We have lots to share so let’s jump right into it. 

We’re pleased to announce that we have now shipped the majority of Kickstarter pledge rewards. If you have received your ‘Action Required’ shipment warning email from us in the last week, you can expect your Rockwell Model T and add-ons to ship out by the end of next week. If you have not received your shipping warning, please hold tight as we prepare to fulfill all remaining Kickstarter pledge rewards over these next final weeks. We’ve provided more details on delivery timelines for outstanding pledges later in this update. 

Most important to us at Rockwell: we’ve been thrilled to read the very positive emails and feedback from backers who have received their rewards. We are so excited that the comments and reviews have continued to be be so overwhelmingly positive.

We wanted to begin this update by sharing some of the verified reviews from early Model T backers - we’re hearing 5 star reviews all-around! 

On the production side of things, this week, we’re continuing to assemble the last batch of Model T razors required to fulfill outstanding Kickstarter pre-orders before sending it off to our warehouse in Chicago for fulfilment. For those who have not yet received their shipment warning email, rest assured that we have not missed your pledge. We are packing and shipping as many orders as possible, per our ability to fulfill, and will be sending you your shipping warning approximately one week before we’re ready to ship.

For those of you that have received your Rockwell Model T and would like to let us know their thoughts, we would love to get your review here! If you’re anything less than completely thrilled with your Model T, (or any addons for that matter - including those that had an issue with their stands) please reach out directly by email at [email protected] so we can better understand and make it right.

How We’re Dealing With Brexit

We’ve been receiving concerns from UK backers about whether we’ll be able to fulfill outstanding pledge rewards before March 29th. We're doing everything we can to ship remaining UK pledge rewards this week, in order for them to avoid any additional tariffs or unexpected shipping complications that may arise. The only exception will be a quantity of Brushed Chrome razors, which will be shipped in April. 

Timeline for White Chrome Model T Backers

You'll be pleased to know that we have finished the manufacturing and delivery of the outstanding White Chrome Model T razors for Kickstarter backers. If you have not already received your shipping warning email, you can expect it within the next week or so.

For those of you that have received your Action Required email, but no shipping confirmation, you can expect your Rockwell Model T to ship over the upcoming week.

Timeline for Gunmetal Model T Backers

We are very close to fulfilling all outstanding Gunmetal Model T razors for Kickstarter backers and if you have not already received your shipping warning email, you can expect to receive it within the next 2 weeks. Those of you that have received your Action Required email, but no shipping confirmation, you can expect your Rockwell Model T to ship over the upcoming week.

Timeline for Brushed Chrome Model T Backers

Due to manufacturing constraints there will be a small additional wait time as we work through the remaining assembly and QC of Brushed Chrome Model T razors before shipping them down to our fulfillment center. 

In the process of final quality assurance we saw that the reject rate for the Brushed Chrome was higher than the other finishes. The root cause of this higher reject rate has been determined to be due to a minute additional thickness in the plating of Brushed Chrome versus White Chrome and Gunmetal. In order to address this variance, we have ordered new Brushed Chrome parts which will arrive in at the end of March. These parts have been adjusted to compensate for the additional chroming thickness and address the root cause of the rejections. 

We anticipate an additional 3-4 weeks before you see your Action Required email, with all remaining Brushed Chrome Model Ts shipping mid-April.

As you all know from our long journey together, our priority at Rockwell is to manufacture nothing less than an amazing razor that delivers fantastic shaves. This priority has come ahead of all other considerations and has been our guiding light. The Model T is by far our most advanced engineering effort. 

It has taken many, many cycles of continuous quality improvement, but having now finally delivered a large number of Model T razors, we are so pleased to see that our backers (a large portion of whom are shaving enthusiasts who have tried many razors) are praising the design, shave feel and craftsmanship of our finished product.

Of course, we’re not finished - we will continue implementing continuous quality improvement into all our endeavors and continue to innovate. In backing our Kickstarter, you did not “buy a product” but pledged your support in a complex engineering project and helped bring something new and amazing to the world. We cannot thank you enough for your support through this journey.

February Update - Shipping Continues!

Hope you’ve all been having a great week. We have a lot of positive news to share in this update. 

As many of you may have noticed by the comments, we’ve continued to ship out more razors these last couple of weeks in greater and greater quantities. This is the product of the work that our engineering / assembly teams continue to do improving our assembly and QC procedures. These improvements have allowed us to continue to scale up assembly while holding our extremely high quality standards. Overall, our output is at an all-time high and after a very long, focused effort we are finally satisfied with the look, quality and shave performance of the razors coming out of mass production that we’ve been shipping out to you all. 

We also are pleased with the many recent positive reviews and are especially honoured by the review from the widely respected Michael Ham, who was an early backer of this campaign. For those of you not familiar with Michael, he literally wrote the book on classic shaving.  We have provided a link to his full review but here is an excerpt… 

"Overall, it is an extremely nice razor that should last a lifetime or more, especially since you can readily clean out any internal gunk buildup. The shave is comfortable and efficient, and the razor feels good in the hand, substantial and strong.  It was worth the wait.”

We are thrilled to see that our hard work is paying off. Needless to say, we can’t wait to get all of your feedback once we’ve completed shipping out the remaining pledge rewards over these next few weeks.

At our assembly factory, our team is focused on completing assembly, inspection and packaging of remaining Model T razors in all three finishes. 

At our current pace, we will have completed the production to fill all Kickstarter pre-orders in February with the exception of a few hundred brushed chrome which will be completed in March.

We also received confirmation this morning that all of the 100 blade razor packs that had experienced a minor seven-day shipping delay will arrive at our shipping center this week. As a result, and in order to not delay shipping any further, some of you will receive your 100 pack of blades as 20 five-packs instead of in our standard 100-blade box. 

Deliveries are scaling up but do depend on your territory, preferred finish, and selected add-ons. This is because, depending on your territory we want to make sure we ship your razors in a way that doesn’t cause any issues with local customs. Some of this is out of our control but we want to do our best to make sure your get your razor as quickly as possible. 

How will I know when my Model T is ready to ship?

In the next few weeks, as we draw closer to fulfilling all remaining pledge rewards, you will be receiving your address confirmation warning email.

Here is what to expect before your Model T and add-ons are shipped out: 

1. Over the next few weeks, you will receive an email from us with the subject line: “Action Required: Rockwell Model T”.

2. You MUST reply to this email with either “Yes” to confirm your address details, or reply back to the email with your updated address details so we can manually make the change in Backerkit for you.

3. After this point, your Rockwell Model T and pledge rewards will be queued for shipment in the next batch. Remember that delivery time depends on your territory but an estimated delivery date will be provided in the tracking link. 

4. Once your Rockwell Model T has shipped, you will receive a link to track your order.

Remember, to ensure that your Model T reaches your current address, your order will not be shipped until we email you your shipping confirmation warning titled ‘‘Action Required: Rockwell Model T’’ and we receive your response to the email. Please see the “How will I know when my pledge rewards are on their way?” section above for more information.

January 2019 Update - Brushed Chrome & Shipping

Happy 2019! In this update, we are excited to share with you images of the Model T in all three finishes, as well as bring you some updates on our manufacturing and delivery progress (spoiler alert: as per the last update, we are on schedule!).

Manufacturing Process

Since late November, we have been focused on scaling up mass assembly of the razors and would like to give you some insight into our process.

We can now confirm that we have received all of the parts necessary to fulfill all existing pledge rewards for all three finishes.

Although we have been assembling and shipping White Chrome for the last six months, it was at a much smaller batch production scale. Even after fulfilling White Chrome pre-orders over the last few months, we still have approximately 8,000 Model T razors that we are working to fulfill between the Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and getrockwell.com pre-orders. Since switching to the one-piece T-Bar, we have been working on scaling up our assembly team to work through these 8,000 sets while maintaining our stringent quality standards. There are 20 individual components that go into the assembly of any individual Model T. That’s 160,000 individual parts that all need to be carefully quality-checked and sub-assembled, using many custom made quality control gauges and hard tools we’ve developed. 

Given the large number of parts and razors that our assembly team is dealing with, we don’t assemble one complete razor at a time. Instead, we complete the sub-assemblies first before moving to the final assembly stage. The vast majority of our time has been focused on quality checking and sub-assembly. We do this in order to ensure the highest quality and keep our relatively small team focused on one major task at a time. 

There are three major sub-assemblies: the adjustment dial, the one-piece T-bar and doors, and the TTO.  This week, we will be completing all three major sub-assemblies for all 8,000 razors - which is a major milestone! 

In the last couple of weeks, two of our core team members shifted from these subassemblies to completing final assembly of the razor — which is why you have begun to see Gunmetal Model T razors being fulfilled in these last few weeks. Now, we are shifting the remaining members of our team from subassembly to final assembly, allowing us to scale up the manufacturing process for all razors and fulfill in larger batches. 

Based on reallocating the majority of our team to these final assembly steps, we are on track to complete all final assemblies and quality check steps in February, for all finishes. 

Shipping

We are fulfilling roughly in order of backer number / pledge date as per our ability to fill.  As you know, our assembly facility is based in Canada. However, in order to ship cost effectively around the world, we use a shipping / fulfilment centre based near Chicago. So all razors must be first packed in Canada and shipped to our fulfilment centre in Chicago. The only exception to this is Canadian orders, which get filled directly via Canada Post, which is why you may notice Canadian backers receiving their pledge rewards slightly earlier.

Upcoming Shipping Confirmation

Important: As we begin fulfilling these razors, we will be sending out an email form to all backers to confirm your shipping details. Please be on the lookout in February for this form. Please note that if you do not respond to the form, your order will not be shipped out - this is to confirm we are shipping your Model T to the correct address - an extremely important step as the number of Model T razors available is extremely limited. You will receive an email notification 48 hours before your Model T ships out, as well as a tracking link once it has shipped out.
