Dear Backers,
First off, we wanted to thank you for all the support you’ve shown for the Rockwell Model T - we have a few things to get through in this update, but wanted to open up with the next free bonus of the campaign: every backer of the Rockwell Model T, in addition to the free 100 razor blades, will be receiving a free Rockwell blade bank included with their pledge. The blade bank is a convenient way to dispose of used razor blades, and can go right in the recycling bin when it’s full. We know it’s not a huge freebie or anything super-fancy, but we thought it was the best way we could present an emphatic thank you to you all, now that we're one week into the campaign.

Now - let’s talk stretch goals! We’ve been busy getting quotes on different ideas, but ultimately we want you guys to have the final say on what’s most interesting for stretch goals. There’s a link below that will take you to a survey, where you can rank your preferred stretch goals. From the most popular stretch goals (by vote), we’ll then be able to calculate what number of units we’d need to order (and the corresponding pledge level) to produce and include the stretch goals while sticking to the current production timelines. We’ll tally the votes this Friday (April 8th), and announce the first stretch goal level next Monday (April 11th), with over four weeks still remaining in the campaign.
We thought this stretch-goal-voting structure would be more interesting for you guys than us blindly assigning stretch goals at the beginning of the campaign, without hearing from you guys on what you'd find interesting or appealing! Now that there’s 1750 of you (thank you!), we should be able to get a great sample size of responses. We have some pictures / renderings of the stretch goal concepts below, for reference. So without further ado:

Dear Backers,
Thank you all for voting on stretch goals - we got nearly 1000 votes before the cutoff on Friday night and your votes provided just the kind of insight we were looking for!
First off, I wanted to quickly explain the rationale behind stretch goals. As long as the campaign reaches funding levels attached to each stretch goal, we will be adding extra free bonuses for each backer of the Model T. Obviously, stretch goals add manufacturing and assembly costs beyond our initial project budget, but we’re able to take on those extra commitments because the increased demand allows us to place a larger order from our manufacturers. The larger our order, the lower the per-razor cost. This means that our ability to unlock extras and freebies for backers is entirely driven by the per-unit production cost decreases that come with ordering more units of the Model T.
This is where you guys come in - every time you share the Model T campaign on Facebook or recommend this campaign to a friend, it gets us closer to being able to provide the bonuses you guys have voted on! We’re doing everything we can to share the campaign as widely as possible, but we won’t be able to get to the stretch goals without some help from you!
For those of you who need an extra sweetener to share the Model T campaign, we’ve partnered with KickBooster. We’re thrilled to see the popularity of the donut stand, and we’re psyched to announce that we’re going forward with its production - it will be available as an add-on after the campaign! We did this to guarantee that the most popular item, based on your votes, would be available no matter where this campaign closes.
That leaves three remaining items that could be unlocked as stretch goals, all from top half of the voted-upon results - the leather case, additional colours, and the leather travel sheath!
We’re excited to announce that the first stretch goal, unlocked at $250,000, will be a free leather travel sheath for each backer. The great news for you is that we’re already on track to hit $250,000 in less than 12 days - and with your help, we’ll get there even faster! The faster we can get to $250,000, the sooner we can unlock the next stretch goals and the more time we have to reach them - they will be the leather travel case and additional colours, based off your votes! Details for the next stretch will be announced once we hit $250,000!

Finally, we wanted to share some other projects active on Kickstarter right now. We’ve arranged a cross-promotion agreement with these campaigns such that they are also sharing the Model T campaign with their backers. We’ve filtered through a lot of active campaigns to make sure we’re only sharing campaigns that we not only think are awesome, but that have a positive track record on Kickstarter or have reached a manufacturing stage that we feel confident in. Dear Rockwell Backers,
Great news - it looks like the Rockwell Model T is a GO! Thank you all so very, very much for funding the Rockwell Model T. Because of your incredible support, we hit our funding goal in under 6 hours!
We’re so glad to be back on Kickstarter - this community is amazing. It’s been only a few hours and we already have had some amazing feedback on additional material concepts, colors, and manufacturing! We have some exciting updates on these topics to share with you guys, but first, we wanted to pass along some saucy avatars for anyone interested in repping the Rockwell Model T on their Kickstarter display picture. If you guys like them, we’ll make some for Facebook and Twitter too. Let us know in the comments.
Now, for the updates in response to your feedback... We are always open to exploring any and all new materials and finishes for the Model T. We are currently consulting with our manufacturing partners to better understand our options because we’d rather be 100% certain on the costs for stretch goals or additional options before overpromising anything that could result in a delay.
That being said, we do have one upgrade we can already announce! After seeing the demand for the Rockwell Model T, and after speaking with the manufacturers we’re considering, we will be manufacturing the internals of the Rockwell Model T from coated brass, rather than zinc! You gave us your clear feedback, and we love it - that’s what Kickstarter is all about! We could only afford this through the popularity of this campaign. So thank you all so much for your support!
We’re working on more announcements, stretch goals, and add-ons, and we’ll be keeping you all posted over the coming weeks, as the campaign continues.
